You do not have to filter yourself here, or have any of it figured out. This is a space where you can show up exactly as you are, without pressure to perform or have the right words. Together we sort through what is actually getting in your way and build approaches that fit your real life, at a pace that works for you.

Working Together

Skills and relationship, together.

You have probably gotten good at managing. Reading the room, adjusting, keeping things running while a fair amount of it costs you more than anyone around you knows. That works until it doesn't, and usually it stops working around a relationship, a change you did not plan for, or the point where the effort just stops being sustainable.

I work with adults who are done running themselves that way. Often that means finally getting clear on how your own brain works after years of being told to try harder. Sometimes it looks like learning to be honest in a relationship without disappearing into it, or finding footing in a transition that arrived before you were ready.

Some of what we do is practical. You will leave with things to try, and the next week we will talk honestly about how they went. Other times you will get somewhere in session that matters more than whatever we planned, and we will stay there instead. Both of those are the work.

How I Help

Common reasons people come to me:

  • Relationship challenges

  • Anxiety

  • Self-esteem and self-doubt

  • Emotional regulation

  • Perfectionism

  • Life transitions

  • Understanding yourself more full

A focus on neurodivergent adults

I especially enjoy working with neurodivergent adults, including those exploring or living with Autism and ADHD. A lot of our work centers on self-understanding, self-esteem, and finding strategies that actually fit how your mind works.

You do not need to have it figured out, or be an "ideal" client, to begin. Readiness can look like a lot of different things.

Growth can feel uncomfortable. That does not mean it is not happening.

Getting Started

Reaching out is the first step.

If any of this resonates, I would love to hear from you. We will start with a short consultation to talk through what is bringing you in, how I work, and whether we are the right fit, before you commit to anything.

Mary Clare is a provisionally licensed counselor practicing under Dr. Bono's supervision. For current fees, insurance, and billing questions, see our fees and insurance page or ask when you reach out, and we will walk through all of it with you.

You are genuinely cared for here, and you are in capable hands.

A Little About Me

Outside the therapy room.

I am someone who learns by doing. I went to an experiential school that taught out in the wilderness, so I can build a fire, find my way with a compass, and yes, I once swam with a whale shark. A trip to Big Sur with my dad has also stayed with me. Standing under trees that massive has a way of putting things in perspective.

These days, life outside of work is mostly my three dogs, Penny, Cali, and Ollie, long walks and longer baths, time with the people I love, and a new and very earnest attempt at sourdough. I believe joy shows up in moments like these rather than at some finish line, and that belief shapes how I sit with people in the work too.
